Today is the first day of spring!
We found a great little song on the four seasons.

Algebra

Room 14 are learning all about algebra. We have made lots of different patterns using shapes. Now we are learning about Greater than, less than and equals. Take a look at how we are learning this.

Buddy Class

We have been learning with our Buddy Class how to take photos and use the macro function on the camera. Take a look at some of the photos we have taken. We will publish more along with the success criteria when we have our picks for the Digi Awards! Our focus for our photo's has been on 'Our Environment'.

Welcome Back!

We have started Term 3 in style with the week beginning with gymnastics. Take a look at how good we are at it!

Making Recycled Paper

Room 14 has been making recycled paper! I wonder what or how Room 14 is going to use their recycled paper when it is dry?

Pacifica Art

Room 14 has been looking at Pacifica Art using Manawatu as their motivation for their drawings. We used crayon and dye to create a night illustration of the windmills on the Tararua Ranges looking through a window from our own homes.

Subtraction

We are learning to subtract numbers. We found a catchy tune to help us remember how to takeaway.

Geometry

We are learning all about our 3 demensional shapes. Listen to the song that is helping us learn.

We are learning about compound words. Compound words are two words that are joined together to make one word, ie bluebird, firefighter.
We know all about Onomatopoeia which describe words that make sounds like crash, zoom, smash and bang!
Our inquiry this term is about our environment.

Room 14's Mighty Monkey

At the bottom of our blog we have our class pet. He is a monkey that we have called Mighty Monkey. Mighty Monkey eats hundreds of bananas! To feed Mighty Monkey you click onto the 'more' button, click on the banana and drag the banana onto a branch. You should try it out! Good Luck

Honesty

Room 14 are learning all about being Honest and telling the truth. The below link has a catchy little song that is helping us to learn

Length

 

We are measuring our shadows. We are learning all about lenght. We found out that our shadows were longer than our bodies. We used iceblocks sticks to measure the length.

Measurement - Weight

 

Look at the different ways we can measure. We learned that a pencil was lighter than one block. We are now using words like bigger, heaviest, lightest, light and heavy, balanced, even, littlest, and extimate.

Using crayon and dye we made a puzzle that shows us our core culture.

Hand Washing

Mrs Pam Owen the Health Nurse came and spoke to us about the importance of making sure we wash our hands the correct way. When we wash our hands we should be quietly singing the happy birthday song twice just to make sure we are taking our time and making sure our hands are clean. We should be brushing our teeth twice a day, brushing our hair daily (did you know that by brushing your hair you break the legs of head lice) and that we should be showering at least four times a week and changing our undies at least once a day. All this and what we have learned with Harold and Ronald McDonald we should be the healthiest children around!

Ronald McDonald

Ronald McDonald came and spoke to us about Road Saftey. We now know what to do when we have to cross a road. We have to STOP, LOOK and Listen. We also have to be carefully with sneaky driveways!

Life Education

In Week 4 we went and seen Harold in the life education bus. We learned all about healthy eating and what our bodies need to survive. Did you know that we only need three things survive? We need lots of water, healthy food and oxygen.
